The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance (ICT & NG), established in June 2006, provides strategic and technical leadership for Uganda’s ICT sector. The Ministry coordinates policy, laws, regulations, and national strategy, ensuring that ICT infrastructure and services are accessible, efficient, and effectively support socio-economic development.
Its mission is to increase ICT access and usage across the country, communicate government policies and programs, and promote a national ideology for transformation. With seven specialized departments—Research & Development, Electronic Services, Data Networks, ICT Infrastructure Development, National Guidance, Information & Communication, and Finance & Administration—the Ministry plays a key role in guiding Uganda’s digital growth and innovation ecosystem.
